DAY 1: CULTURAL IMMERSION & VILLAGE LIFE (L/D)

The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kuching to Sematan, passing through rolling countryside, pepper farms, oil palm estates, and coastal villages. Upon arrival in Sematan, guests enjoy lunch at a local restaurant featuring fresh seafood and Sarawak specialties.

In the afternoon, continue to a nearby Salako (Selako) village, where guests are warmly welcomed by the host community. After checking in to the traditional Salako longhouse, a guided village walk introduces guests to Salako customs, longhouse architecture, and daily village life.

Guests visit surrounding paddy fields and pepper gardens, learning about traditional farming practices and the community’s close relationship with nature. Time is provided for interaction with villagers and photography in the serene rural setting.

Dinner is served at the longhouse, featuring home-cooked traditional dishes. In the evening, guests enjoy a cultural sharing session, which may include storytelling, traditional music, dance, or casual conversation with villagers.

DAY 2: NATURE & ADVENTURE EXPERIENCE (B/L/D)

After breakfast at the longhouse, guests embark on a guided jungle hike in the surrounding area of the village. The trail winds through secondary rainforest and forest fringes, where experienced local guides share their knowledge of medicinal plants, edible forest produce, and traditional survival practices passed down through generations. During certain seasons, guests may have the rare opportunity to spot the Rafflesia flower, the world’s largest bloom, along the forest trails (subject to blooming season and natural conditions). The hike is of moderate difficulty, making it suitable for most fitness levels, and offers a refreshing immersion in nature with cool forest air, natural sounds, and occasional scenic viewpoints along the way.

Upon returning to the village, enjoy lunch and time to rest. The late afternoon is dedicated to hands-on village activities, which may include village walk or cooking demonstration. You can also walk to the nearest sea beach to enjoy sunset (15 minutes walk).

After the sunset, share another village-style dinner prepared by the host families. The night offers a relaxed atmosphere for bonding, storytelling, or simply enjoying the tranquility of rural Sarawak under the stars. You may also learn the weaving activity, tribe’s language and customs etc.

Day 3: JUNGLE TREKKING, BEACH LEISURE & SEA TURTLE (B/L/D)

After wake up, your breakfast will be served. Then proceed directly to Telok Melano Village Jetty, where your boat will be waiting. A short and scenic boat ride brings you across clear coastal waters to the pristine shoreline of Tanjung Datu National Park also knows as Heaven of Borneo, one of Sarawak’s most remote and unspoiled protected areas. Upon arrival, our guide will assist with park registration and escort you to your hut accommodation or designated camping area, where you can settle in and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Later, join a guided jungle walk at Pasir Antu Laut, one of the park’s most scenic and ecologically rich areas. Before setting off, guests will prepare a packed lunch  to carry along for a picnic at the end of the trail (or an early lunch before the hike). As you hike through the rainforest, the guide shares insights into the park’s diverse flora and fauna, pointing out medicinal plants, towering rainforest trees, and signs of wildlife along the forest floor. The trail offers an immersive experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the untouched natural environment, accompanied by the sounds of birds, insects, and the jungle canopy.

At the end of the trail, relax and enjoy your picnic lunch surrounded by nature, taking in serene coastal views and the refreshing sea breeze. After lunch, there is time to rest before returning at a leisurely pace. The evening is free for relaxation, giving you the opportunity to swim in the clear waters, stroll along the beach, or simply unwind and absorb the peaceful atmosphere of the national park. You can also observe turtle hatching.

After the sunset, it is time to participate and cook together in a picnic style. Afterwards, there will be a short night walk to experience the rainforest and find some nocturnal wildlife. In the late night, should sea turtles come ashore to nest, your guide will notify you and escort you for a rare and unforgettable turtle observation experience. Turtle watching is conducted strictly in accordance with conservation guidelines and will only take place after the turtles have begun laying their eggs, ensuring minimal disturbance to these protected animals. Please note that turtle sightings are seasonal and cannot be guaranteed.
