You will be picked up from your hotel at 7:45 am for a scenic 40-minute drive to the beautiful Semenggoh Forest Reserve. This reserve offers a rare opportunity to observe semi-wild orangutans in their natural rainforest habitat.

Semenggoh is an orangutan rehabilitation center that cares for orphaned, injured, or rescued orangutans and prepares them for a return to life in the wild. Today, more than 20 orangutans roam freely within the forest reserve, often returning to the center during scheduled feeding times. From a designated viewing area set within a natural amphitheater, you may witness these magnificent primates emerging from the surrounding forest canopy as they make their way down to the feeding platform.

Upon arrival, park rangers will provide an informative briefing about the center’s mission, conservation efforts, and the behavior of the orangutans. Your guide will also point out any orangutans that may already be visible from the forest trails. After the briefing, guests will follow a short, easy trail through the rainforest to reach the feeding area, where orangutans are often already present on the platform.

Please note that sightings cannot be guaranteed. During fruiting season, when the forest offers an abundance of natural food, the orangutans may choose not to respond to the rangers’ calls or appear at the feeding platform.

• There is no assurance that you will see the park’s animals because they are in the wild and free.
