TOUR ITINERARY

Duration 4 Days 3 Nights | Difficulty Level : Moderate

Day 1: Sandakan – Selingan Turtle Island 

Begin your journey with a morning departure from your hotel in Sandakan or meet at Sandakan Airport. You’ll be transferred to the jetty for a boat ride to Selingan Turtle Island. Upon arrival, check into your chalet and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure perfect for swimming or snorkeling, weather permitting. After dinner, join the park ranger for a guided experience to observe turtles laying eggs, the collection of eggs for the hatchery, and the release of baby turtles into the sea. Overnight stay at the chalet.

Day 2: Selingan – Sepilok Orang Utan – Bornean Sun Bear – Kinabatangan River 

After breakfast at 7:00 AM, depart Selingan Island and return to Sandakan. Upon arrival on the mainland, continue to the renowned Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre to witness the feeding of these iconic primates and capture photos of them in their natural forest surroundings. Established in 1964, the centre rehabilitates orphaned and displaced Orang Utans affected by logging and land clearing, helping them gradually reintegrate into the wild. 

Next, visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, home to the world’s smallest bear species. These charming creatures face habitat loss due to deforestation. The centre focuses on welfare, rehabilitation, education, and research, offering rescued sun bears a safe environment and a chance to return to the wild. Visitors can observe their playful behavior from elevated walkways overlooking open forest enclosures. 

Enjoy lunch at the Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Restaurant before departing at 12:45 PM for a 2.5-hour drive to the Kinabatangan River. Upon arrival at the resort, you’ll be welcomed by the team and served refreshments. A safety briefing and overview of the resort’s surroundings will follow. At 4:00 PM, embark on a river cruise to spot the region’s rich wildlife, including proboscis monkeys, orang utans, macaques, pygmy elephants, and various bird species. Return to the resort for dinner and an overnight stay at Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort. 

Day 3: Kinabatangan River Adventure 

Awaken to the sounds of gibbons and hornbills echoing through the forest. Begin your day with an early morning river cruise to spot more of the region’s diverse wildlife and bird species. Return to the resort for breakfast, followed by a guided jungle trek within the resort’s surrounding area. After your trek, enjoy lunch back at the resort. In the late afternoon, embark on another river safari to discover more of Kinabatangan’s rich ecosystem before returning for dinner and an overnight stay at Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort.

Day 4: Kinabatangan River – Sandakan 

Start your final day with one last early morning cruise along the Kinabatangan River to catch glimpses of wildlife and birds in their natural habitat. After breakfast at the resort, you’ll be transferred to Sandakan Airport or your hotel, marking the end of your journey.
