TOUR ITINERARY

Duration 3 Days 2 Nights | Difficulty Level : Moderate

DAY 1 

You will be picked up at Sandakan (Hotel/Airport) around 12.00pm or Sepilok around 1.00pm and transferred to Sukau. Arrive at the Lodge at 3:30 PM, where you will be greeted with a short briefing before checking in. A tea break is served at 4:00 PM, allowing time to relax after the journey. At 4:20 PM, guests gather at the jetty for an afternoon river cruise lasting approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, offering opportunities to observe wildlife along the Kinabatangan River. Dinner is served at 7:00 PM, followed by a night river cruise at 8:00 PM, where nocturnal animals may be spotted under the cover of darkness.

DAY 2

The day begins early at 6:00 AM with a morning river cruise of about 1 hour and 40 minutes, when wildlife activity is most vibrant. Breakfast is served at 8:00 AM. At 9:30 AM, enjoy a guided jungle walk lasting approximately 1.5 hours, providing insight into the rich rainforest ecosystem. Lunch is served at 12:30 PM. In the afternoon at 2:30 PM, visit the gallery of “The Orang Sungai” to learn about the river people’s culture, daily life, and traditional crafts. A tea break follows at 4:00 PM, before heading out again at 4:20 PM for another afternoon river cruise lasting 1.5 to 2 hours. Dinner is served at 7:00 PM, and the day concludes with a guided night walk and insect observation at 8:00 PM, lasting approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.

Day 3

Start your morning with breakfast at the lodge, accompanied by the sounds of the surrounding rainforest. The rest of the late morning is yours to relax and enjoy the natural setting before sitting down for lunch at the lodge.

In the afternoon, unwind with a tea break as the day begins to cool. Shortly after, head out on an afternoon river cruise lasting approximately 1.5–2 hours. Drift along the Kinabatangan River and keep watch for wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, macaques, hornbills, and other birdlife often seen along the riverbanks.

As evening falls, return to the lodge for dinner. Later, venture back onto the river for a guided night cruise, where the darkness reveals a different side of the jungle. With a little luck, you may spot crocodiles, owls, and other nocturnal creatures active after sunset.

Day 4

Rise early for a peaceful morning river cruise, one of the best times of day to experience the river. The soft morning light and cooler air create ideal conditions for wildlife viewing, while the rainforest slowly comes to life around you.

After returning to the lodge, enjoy breakfast before checking out. The journey concludes with a transfer to Sandakan or Kinabatangan main town, bringing your river adventure to a close.
