TOUR ITINERARY

Duration 3 Days 2 Nights | Difficulty Level : Moderate

Day 1 : Lahad Datu – DVFC

Option 1:

At 9:30am begin your Danum Valley adventure with registration and check-in at the Danum Valley Studies / Field Centre reception office located adjacent to Lahad Datu Airport at Fajar Centre. After registration, enjoy a scenic transfer of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes along a gravel road into the heart of Danum Valley.

Upon arrival at Danum Valley Studies Centre (DVSC), you will be welcomed with a briefing at the reception counter before settling in. Lunch is available as an optional add-on. In the late afternoon, embark on an evening walk around the vicinity for approximately 1.5 hours in search of wildlife. After a tea break or leisure time, enjoy dinner at the dining hall.

For those interested, an optional night drive is available (subject to availability) to observe nocturnal wildlife. The day concludes with lights off at 11:00 pm.

Option 2: 

At 3:00pm register and check in at the Danum Valley Studies / Field Centre reception office adjacent to Lahad Datu Airport at Fajar Centre in the afternoon. Proceed on a 2.5-hour transfer via gravel road to Danum Valley. Upon arrival at DVSC, attend a welcoming briefing before enjoying free time with coffee or tea at the dining hall. Dinner is served in the evening, followed by an optional night drive in search of nocturnal wildlife (subject to availability). Lights off at 11:00 pm.

Day 2 : Rainforest Experience

Start the day with breakfast at the dining hall before joining a guided jungle trekking activity lasting approximately four hours, offering opportunities to explore the rich biodiversity of the rainforest. Return to the centre for lunch and rest.

In the afternoon, continue with an evening walk or trek of about 2.5 hours. Enjoy a coffee or tea break before dinner at the dining hall. After dinner, participate in a guided night walk around the vicinity (maximum 1 hour) to discover nocturnal creatures. Lights off at 11:00 pm.

Day 3 : Return to Lahad Datu

Begin the morning with an early walk around the vicinity, followed by breakfast at the dining hall. After breakfast, check out and depart Danum Valley, with an estimated arrival in Lahad Datu town around 12:00pm.

Tipping, Additional Beverages and Any Items Not Mentioned.

TRAILS:

1. Nature trail: About 30 mins full loop / 500 M
2. Adventure trail: About an hour return trip/ 1.5 KM
3. East trail: About an hour return trip/ 1.5 KM
4. Coffin trail: About 2 hours return trip / 1.7 KM
5. Rhino pool trail: About 4 hours return trip / 6 KM
6. Tembaling trail: About 4 hours return trip/ 6 KM

NOTES:

• Sightings of wildlife are more frequent in nearby Centre, hence the trail will be re-arranged to maximize the sightings of
wildlife.
• Trekking timing may differ based on individual fitness.
• The guide/ ranger reserved the right to consult guest to return back to Centre or suggest for more shorter trail if guest is
unfit for a long trekking activities e.g. injured, any health problem, and etc. and when weather condition don’t permit for a
trekking activities
• Kid below 12 years old are not suggested to trek to Rhino Pool and Tembaling Trails due to safety reason

• Private Guide or tour is available upon request at a reasonable charge. Please inform us when making the bookings.
• Add –on activity is arranged at the reception of Danum Valley Studies Centre, and will be arranged based on weather
conditions, and may be re-organised to best meet the operational situations
• Our guide/ranger will have to determine your fitness level before engaging you on a long hike.
• Cell phone coverage is available. However, it can sometimes be disrupted due to rain downpour and satellite malfunction.
• Electricity is only available from 7 am – 11pm
• You are advised to purchase travelling insurance before entering the Conservation Area
