Day 01: Berau – Merasa (D)

Arrive at Berau Airport, where you’ll be greeted and transferred overland (approx. 1 hour) to Merasa, a Dayak Kenyah village. Here, you can explore the colorful settlement, known for its extraordinary art and vibrant geometric designs depicting jungle life. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight at a village guesthouse. 

Day 02: Merasa – Lesan River – Lesan Dayak (BLD)

After a simple breakfast, begin your adventure with a canoe journey along the Lesan River. As you cruise through the jungle, enjoy the scenery and wildlife, passing Bawan Orangutan Island, one of the best spots to see orangutans. Continue upriver to Dayak Lesan village, with lunch en route. Upon arrival, meet your hosts and settle in before exploring the village and trekking into the protected Lesan primary forest in search of orangutans and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight in the village.

Day 03: Lesan Dayak – Lesan River (BLD)

Breakfast at your homestay before setting out on a forest trek to spot orangutans and other wildlife. Later, board a motorized canoe for a two-hour journey upstream to the limestone forest. Along the way, admire the lush riverbanks, birdlife, and unique rock formations, including the famous “Dog Stone.” Visit an old Dayak grave hidden in the forest, enjoy lunch en route, and take a short trek in the limestone area before returning to Lesan Dayak village for dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Lesan Dayak – Berau (BL)

After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you may take a short forest trek before departing. Travel by car along muddy rainforest tracks (approx. 1 hour) to connect with the main road, then continue about 3 hours to Berau Airport or 5 hours to Tanjung Batu Harbor for your onward journey.

TRIP NOTES:

• There is no assurance that you will see the park’s animals because they are in the wild and free.
• Never feed an animal or engage with one. Allow them to run wild. They become accustomed to being fed, and if they don’t get anything, they may become hostile.
