Day 1 You will be picked-up from their hotel around 9:00am and driven to Batang Ai reservoir. Along the way, the trip will stop at Lachau Bazaar at 11.00am. Stroll around the shops and the small native market and have an early lunch in a local restaurant. Then, the journey will continue till we arrive at Batang Ai Lake around 1.30pm – 2.00pm. We will directly depart from Pangkalan Batang Ai and be transferred by traditional wooden longboat from Batang Ai Hydro Jetty to Headhunter Longhouse. The scenic journey takes approximately 90 minutes. Upon arrival around 3:30 PM, you will be welcomed by the longhouse Chief and enjoy a short tea break before settling into their accommodation. After freshening up, you’ll have time to explore the surroundings, swim in the lake, or try their hand at fishing. Dinner will be served at 7:30 PM, featuring local ethnic dishes. The evening is free for leisure, with lights out around 9:30 PM.

Day 2 Breakfast will be served at 7:00 AM. At 8:00 AM, your group will depart by boat to Sungai Jelia, where you’ll begin a jungle trek to a nearby waterfall or wildlife observation spot, guided by a local guide. After returning to base camp around 10:00 AM, lunch will be prepared by the boatman and helper. You will enjoy a BBQ picnic by the riverbank, with swimming and relaxation in the peaceful rainforest setting. You’ll return to Longhouse by 3:00 PM again and relax on the Ruai (common Verandah) and enjoy a tea break followed by free time to rest or interact with the community. Dinner will be served at 6:00 PM, followed by a cultural performance featuring music and traditional dance at 8:30 PM. You are also invited to share Tuak, the local rice wine, before winding down for the night then at 9.30 PM you will have social time with longhouse people and take a rest.

Day 3 Breakfast will be served at 7:00 AM, followed by a short farewell walk in the village. At 9:00 AM, guests will depart by longboat to Batang Ai Hydro Jetty, arriving around 10:00 AM. We start our journey from jetty to Kuching and will stop at Serian for refueling and then lunch in a local restaurant. We will arrive in the city by the late afternoon.

TRIP NOTES:

We highly recommend that guest(s) leave their big luggage in Kuching and bring a smaller bag for the journey to Batang Ai. There is limited space on the boats for large suitcases or bags,  bring only what guest(s) need for the three-day journey.
