Description
TOUR ITINERARY
Duration 6-8 Hours | Difficulty Level : Moderate
At 8.00 am, guest(s) will be picked up from their hotel in Kuching and drive to the small town of Lundu, arriving at the park headquarters around 10.00 am. The tour will begin with a visit to the park explanation center to learn about the ecology of the Rafflesia flower. If a flower is in bloom, it will take a 10 to 30-minute walk along one of the park pathways to see the beautiful Rafflesia. Along the trip, the guide will highlight the host flowers and the cabbage-like Rafflesia bulbs that litter the forest floor.
Next, guest(s) can walk for about 30 minutes to Waterfall No. 1 which starts from the explanation center if the flower not blooming. This waterfall is 600 meters from the park headquarters and accessible via the park’s main trekking trail that goes to Gunung Gading’s summit. Waterfall No.1 consists of a tiny waterfall and several rock pools where guest(s) can swim in the cold waters of the rainforest. Guest(s) will walk back along the main trail for 10 minutes until reaching the Raflessia Trail plankwalk after enjoying the rainforest. This route takes guest(s) through a rocky rainforest area with plenty of Rafflesia blossoms. Rafflesia relies on a host vine called Tetrastigma. These vines, as well as brown Rafflesia buds, can be found along the boardwalk. After that, guest(s) will return to the park headquarters and depart Gunung Gading around 1.30 pm. Guest(s) can have their lunch in a local coffee shop in Lundu. After settling for their lunch, guest(s) will return to Kuching and expect to arrive around 4.00 pm.
