Day 1 – You will be picked from their hotel at 9.00am and driven to Batang Ai reservoir. Along the way, the trip will stop at Lachau Bazaar at 11.00am. Stroll around the shops and the small native market and have an early lunch in a local coffee shop. Then, the journey will continue till we arrive at Batang Ai Lake around 1.30pm – 2.00pm. We will directly depart from Pangkalan Batang Ai  for  a scenic 90 minutes boat ride. Settle in at Mahligai Ijok and freshen up. There will be a short tea break and an explanation about your activities in the village. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm with ethnic food. At 8.30pm you will visit the longhouse. Spend time with the headhunters. Learn about their culture, customs and stories. They will offer you some local rice wine known as Tuak. At 10.00pm get your bed ready and leisure and prepare for next day’s adventure.

Day 2 – Breakfast will be served at 7.30am. After breakfast, you will get a short boat ride where our jungle trail starts. Hike the jungle trails along the river and search for Orangutan and monkeys. This is the only place in Sarawak where you can find wild orangutan. Then continue upriver by longboat. The destination is scenic Ensulai Waterfall. Along the way if the water level is suitable then the boatman will demonstrate fishing Iban Style using a fishing net (Jala). Catch the fish for our BBQ. After arriving at the waterfall, you can enjoy the waterfall and river. Then we prepare our picnic lunch with chicken cooked in bamboo (pansuh), BBQ fish, local vegetable and more. Swim in the fabulous river and relish the peaceful rainforest surroundings and enjoy the food at the riverbank.

Return back to the lodge around 3.00pm. After rest, you will visit Nanga Sumpa longhouse again and relax on the Ruai (common Verandah). We will demonstrate blowpipe activity and you cant try tour score! Spend time with the Iban kids and create memories. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm. There will be a small night walk with our experienced local guide upon request (this is an optional activity with no extra charge but upon availability and weather condition). Please make sure you have a proper shoes suitable for mud and water trails.

Day 3 – Breakfast will be served in the lodge at 7.30am. Have a last short self-walk in the village. At 9.00am you will get our boat to Batang Ai jetty. We start our journey from jetty to Kuching around 10.30am. We will stop at Serian for refueling and lunch in a local restaurant. Estimated time of arrival at city will be 2.00pm.

TRIP NOTES:

We highly recommend that guest(s) leave their big luggage in Kuching and bring a smaller bag for the journey to Batang Ai. There is limited space on the boats for large suitcases or bags,  bring only what guest(s) need for the three-day journey.
