TOUR ITINERARY

Duration 3 Days 2 Nights | Difficulty Level : Moderate

Day 1: Kuching – Lachau – Iban Longhouse Experience (L/D)

Your adventure begins with a morning departure from Kuching estimated around 8:00AM, travelling through Sarawak’s picturesque countryside. Along the journey, enjoy views of rural villages, pepper farms, rice fields, and tropical landscapes that showcase the charm of Borneo’s interior. We will stop at Lachau to fuel up, strolling the local market and buy ration. Then we will have our lunch in a local restaurant.

Upon reaching Batang Ai, enjoy a scenic ride across the tranquil waters of Batang Ai Lake and upriver towards Nanga Ukom or the Delok River longhouse. As you travel deeper into the rainforest, the sounds of civilization gradually fade, replaced by the sights and sounds of nature. Upon arrival, receive a traditional welcome from your Iban hosts and settle into your longhouse accommodation. Take time to explore the communal living area, meet the villagers, and learn about the unique customs and daily life of the Iban people.

As evening falls, enjoy a delicious home-cooked dinner. After dinner, gather with the villagers for a cultural evening featuring traditional Iban music and dance performances. Witness the graceful movements of the Ngajat dance, listen to stories passed down through generations, and experience the warm hospitality that makes every longhouse visit special. You  may also sample locally brewed rice wine (Tuak) while learning about its cultural significance.

Day 2: Rainforest Trekking Adventure & Cultural Activities (B/L/D)

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the rainforest and enjoy a traditional breakfast before setting off on an exciting guided jungle trekking adventure.

Accompanied by experienced local guides, trek through dense rainforest trails, crossing streams and passing through traditional farming areas. Along the way, discover medicinal plants, fruit trees, and learn how the local community has relied on the forest for generations. Your guide will share fascinating insights into jungle survival techniques, traditional hunting practices, and the rich biodiversity of Batang Ai. Depending on trail conditions, the trek may lead to a beautiful jungle waterfall or crystal-clear stream, offering a refreshing place to rest and enjoy the natural surroundings. Enjoy the picnic lunch in the rainforest before returning to the longhouse.

After returning to the longhouse , have some relaxation, then continue your cultural immersion with a traditional blowpipe demonstration. Learn about this ancient hunting tool once used by the Iban people and test your skills by trying to hit a target under the guidance of local experts.

Spend the remainder of the afternoon interacting with the villagers, learning about their traditions, handicrafts, and way of life. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation of the strong cultural heritage that continues to thrive in these remote communities.

In the evening, enjoy another traditional dinner before gathering with your hosts for a memorable night of cultural exchange, storytelling, and community interaction.

  16. Osaka

    Best tour in Borneo

  17. Sophia Lane

Cheaper compared to other agencies. Very nicely managed.

  18. Jenna

It’s not cheap. But when we compare to other agencies for same itineraries, yes it’s cheaper than them. And very well organised. The local guide was very skillfull. We saw 2 times orangutans in the wild and also went to their nest. The boat ride was the best experience in borneo.

  19. Luca

Undoubtedly best tour in Sarawak ❤️

  20. Thomas

No value for money. Spend so much to sleep 2 nights on the floor. The journey was too long. 6 hours just to reach there from Kuching!!!! The hiking trail was muddy. The boat ride was risky and you need to travel under the sun. We saw orangutan in the forest but you can see dozens of them at sepilok without spending much time.

  21. Elisa

If this does not satisfy your heart, nothing else will. Best location in Sarawak and you actually live with the headhunters!
